Ms. Fran Shea is a native of Bogalusa, LA. She received her teaching degree from Southeastern Louisiana University. In 1978, she began her teaching career at Clearwood Junior High School where she taught 1st and 3rd grade. She moved to C.J. Schoen Middle School where she taught 4th grade. She was later hired as the Resource Helping Teacher at the same school. Ms. Shea's career then continued at Pine View Middle School where she taught 5th and 6th grade computer lab. In 2003, she moved on to the "best school that anyone could wish for," Madisonville Junior High, as assistant principal. She later became principal in 2005.
Throughout her career, Ms. Shea has participated in many programs beyond her home schools. She has presented multiple teacher workshops locally, statewide, and nationally. She also enjoys working with the Summer LEAP Remediation Program. Most recently, Ms. Shea served on the St. Tammany District SACS/CASI Accreditation Team.
Personally, Ms. Shea is the mother of three beautiful and talented daughters. Meghan is currently teaching English in Thailand. Emily is a sophomore pursing a career in kinesiology. Kylen is a high school student at Mandeville High. She is gifted in the arts and really enjoys sports.
When not at school, Ms. Shea enjoys personal time with her family and extended family. She sings in her church choir. But the hobby that the junior high students really get a kick out of is the fact that she deer hunts. During hunting season, she and the students enjoy spending recess time comparing stories.
"I consider this phase in my life to be one of the most rewarding I have had. I just love the community I am working in. The relationships I am building with families in this community will, I am sure, last a lifetime!" Fran Shea
